My Review Of The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike

I bought the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike from a local catalogue store and I was very disappointed to find that it was defective. Thankfully there was a 16 day money back guarantee so I was able to return it. I decided to order my next one online, and I was very impressed with what I found.
There was free shipping and the delivery didn''t take that long at all. The exercise bike arrived in mint condition and there were no parts missing. I did my research and made sure there were plenty of good reviews before I bought this bike.
I have been using the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike every day for 4 months now and there are no signs of deterioration. It still runs as smoothly, quietly and efficiently as when I first took it out of the box.
Getting an exercise bike I could use at home was one of the best decisions I could have made. The biggest problem with going to the gym for me was the time it took and the hassle of getting out of the house in the cold whether. With my Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike, I can just sit on it and exercise away whenever I want.
|"I use it every chance I get, and having this one piece of equipment is like having your own gym at home."|
This particular bike has a very solid build, so I can exercise as hard and fast as I want and it won''t break down, make lots of noise or rattle or shake. I can use it at night time when the kids are asleep without any fear of waking them. I particularly like to use this exercise bike while watching television. The sounds it makes are so quiet that I only have to turn the volume on the TV up by a very small amount.
Is The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike Hard To Assemble? Do You Have To Be A Mechanic?
Well it''s the first item I have bought that I have had to put together myself, and I didn''t do to badly (and no, I''m not a mechanic). Following the instructions, it took me a little over 3 hours from taking it out of the box to cycling to my heart''s content.
The instruction manual had lots of pictures, which made it easier. Though I would have preferred a little more explanation in the way of text. I suppose you can''t get everything you want.
There is something I should warn you about. Once you have assembled your bike you are ready to register it, you will need the serial number, which is located at the base of the front stabilizer. Be sure to take a note of this serial number before you put the bike together.
Is The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike Suitable For Experienced Cyclists Or Novists?
In my opinion, any exercise bike that can accommodate the most experienced of cyclists can also accommodate a novice.
A few of my friends who currently are athletes, have managed to get a decent workout with this machine. One of my friends Aaron, who works as a gym instructor, ensures me that this bike is far superior to the stuff they have at his gym. He cycles regularly and loves this exercise bike to bits.
I am no experienced cyclist myself, but being a big guy (6ft 6" and weighing 230 lb) who has previously squatted 580 lb (in the days of my youth), this bike can totally exhaust my legs.
I have had many of my guests have a go at the Schwinn 240, some of whom have perhaps never exercised a day in their life. The main complement I get from the novices is about how this bike makes exercise "comfortable".
So all in all I think the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike is indeed suitable for the novice and expert alike.
How Big Or Small Do You Have To Be To Use It?
Thankfully, this bike can be adjusted to accommodate people of all shapes and sizes. My wife who is 5ft 4" can use it quite comfortably. And like I mention I myself am 6ft 6" and have no trouble fitting in myself.
It''s also very easy to adjust, so my wife doesn''t grumble when I leave it as it is after my workout. Apparently it is easier to adjust this bike than it is to lower the toilet seat.
Disadvantages Of The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike
Don''t get me wrong. The bike is great, and the stuff you can do with the console is very valuable. But the only problem I found was that the instructions on how to set up the console and get the best out of it were not very easy to follow.
I ended up just playing around with it myself, and it took me some time to work out all the amazing things it can do. My complaint I suppose is that the instructions should have made this process easier for me, but they didn''t. So be prepared for a bit of guess-work and some trial and error when you''re starting out.
How Does The Schwinn 240 Compare To The Other Scwhinn Bikes?
I did LOTS of research on this before I finally decided to go for the Schwinn 240. Thankfully, since I have various friends who are athletes (having been an athlete myself in the past), I have had the luxury of trying a number of different exercise bikes before I went ahead and bought the Schwinn 240.
Firstly, I should mention that Schwinn bikes are among the best at their price range. Of course you could say that the top of the range bikes at over $3000 a piece, such as the Precor range, are much heavier and have a superior build. The Schwinn 240 being almost 10x cheaper is actually quieter than a few Precor models I have tried, and it''s almost as solid. Keeping the price difference in mind, I''d say the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike was way ahead.
The other Schwinn bikes you might consider are the 20 and the 220. These two are also both amazing machines. But I found that the Schwinn 20 has a rather hard seat and your bottom can ache somewhat after a long workout. It also lacks personal programming. My main complaint about the 220 was that it wobbles when you are going really fast, and it just didn''t feel as solid as the 240.
The Scwinn 240 has more than enough padding on the seat and it has a backlit display (so you can use it in the dark while everyone else is watching TV or sleeping if you have it in the bedroom). It also has a very sophisticated computer that loads personal programs and stores data from all of your sessions.
The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike is an excellent piece of equipment that provides great value for money. At a very affordable price, it rivals top of the range bicycles that cost well over $3000 a piece.
It''s quiet and compact and hardly wobbles at all at the hardest and fastest settings. The seat is extremely comfortable (a very important feature in any exercise bike), and the bike is easily adjustable to accommodate people of all sizes.
The computer system is very advanced and has a handy backlit display, which many other Schwinn models don''t.
The bike may take a while to put together, but the instructions are easy enough and almost anyone can do it. The only thing lacking in my opinion is the instructions for the computer, which could do with a bit more detail and a bit more clarity of instruction.
